Hey reader,

I know everyone loves Halloween, just to be clear I am not trying to crush peoples holiday spirit, this is my opinion only and I'm shedding some light to this topic as a Christian.

I am going to be honest, I loved this holiday and did have fun with my friends and family, but I did not know or understand this holiday. Once I got closer to God and church I began to understand why is wrong to celebrating this holiday.

This holiday began over 1900 years ago, that day as the time when the souls of the dead supposedly could mingle with the living.

Another tradition is the druidic belief that during the holiday, demons, witches, and evil spirits freely roamed the earth with joy to greet the arrival of "their season" . The demons had their fun with poor mortals that night, frightening, harming, and even playing all kinds of mean tricks on them. The only way, it seemed, for scared humans to escape the demons was to offer them things they liked, fancy foods and sweets. In order to escape the fury of these horrible creatures, a human could disguise himself as one of them and join in their roaming. This way they would recognise the human as a demon or witch and the human would not be bothered that night.

Does Halloween give you godly themes such as peace, freedom and salvation or does the holiday bring to mind feelings of fear and obsession?

In Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

I don't think Halloween is innocent anymore, because as a kid, the only thing I wanted to be is a witch like every single one of my friends, I wanted to dress up of something mystical with power, not knowing the real meaning of it.

Additionally the Bible goes on to say in Leviticus 20:27 that anyone who practiced witchcraft, soothsaying, sorcery should be killed.

This brings me back to why is wrong to celebrate Halloween I'm my opinion.

What the Bible adds to this topic in Ephesians 5:11, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.” This text is calling us to not only have no association with any type of dark activity but also to shed light upon this topic to those around us.

God is calling humanity to follow Him and to "come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing” (2 Corinthians 6:17).

I hope this answers some questions about why I find Halloween wrong to celebrate.

Let me know what you think about this post and what are your views of it. This post is not to offend anyone just to share this point of view.

Have a lovely holiday either way ;) xx
